The Peer Tutoring Program

Bring a Peer Tutoring Program to Your School

A free chapter-based peer tutoring framework designed to help schools launch structured, student-led academic support programs. Schools receive guided onboarding, ready-to-use resources, and access to the Peer Tutoring Chapter Hub to help organize tutors, track sessions, and measure impact.

How to Start a Peer tutoring program

What is the peer tutoring program?

The Peer Tutoring Program is a free, student-led academic support system that helps schools launch structured peer tutoring chapters. Through guided onboarding, ready-to-use chapter resources, and the Peer Tutoring Chapter Hub, schools can organize tutors, log tutoring sessions, approve hours, manage members, and track their impact.

Each chapter is led by students with support from a faculty sponsor, making peer tutoring easier to start, manage, and sustain within a school community.

Why peer tutoring works

Academic Support

Students often learn best from peers who have recently mastered the same material. Peer tutoring provides personalized support that helps students better understand difficult concepts.

Leadership Development

Tutors develop valuable skills such as communication, mentoring, and problem-solving while gaining meaningful leadership experience.

Stronger School Community

Peer tutoring encourages collaboration between students and helps create a supportive academic culture within schools.

What schools receive

Schools that launch a Peer Tutoring Program chapter receive guided support and access to resources that help them build a sustainable tutoring system, including:

• A step-by-step chapter implementation guide
• Tutor recruitment and application templates
• Parent consent and liability forms
• Tutor training materials
• Administrative templates for counselors and teachers
• Program tracking tools to measure impact
• Access to the Peer Tutoring Chapter Hub for logging sessions, approving hours, managing members, and organizing chapter activity

To make sure each school is set up correctly, full chapter resources are provided after a free onboarding call. This helps each school understand the model, create a leadership structure, recruit tutors, and begin using the Chapter Hub effectively.

How it works

Step 1 — Submit the Start a Chapter Form
A counselor, teacher, administrator, or student leader can submit the form to express interest in starting a Peer Tutoring Program chapter.

Step 2 — Book a Free Onboarding Call
After submitting the form, schools are directed to book a free onboarding call. This call helps your school understand the chapter model, ask questions, and create a realistic launch plan.

Step 3 — Receive Guided Access to Chapter Resources
After the onboarding call, your school receives access to the implementation resources and Chapter Hub tools needed to begin building your chapter.

Step 4 — Launch and Manage Your Chapter
Your school can begin recruiting tutors, organizing tutoring sessions, logging hours, approving sessions, and tracking chapter impact through the Peer Tutoring Chapter Hub.

Who this program is for

The Peer Tutoring Program is designed for:

• School counselors
• Teachers and administrators
• Student leadership organizations
• Students interested in bringing the program to their school with staff support

Students interested in starting the program are encouraged to share the toolkit with a counselor, teacher, or administrator who can help oversee implementation.

About the program

The Peer Tutoring Program was created by Alexandra Syanova after launching a successful peer tutoring initiative at her own high school. After seeing the positive impact it had on students, she developed an implementation toolkit so that schools across the country could easily create similar programs.

The goal of the program is to make academic support more accessible while empowering students to become leaders within their school communities.
