We help high schools across the country launch their own peer tutoring programs — for free.

Our Story:

The Peer Tutoring Program was founded in 2026 by Alexandra Syanova after seeing the impact that student-led academic support can have within a school community. While attending Prairie Ridge High School, Alexandra created and organized a structured peer tutoring system that allowed students to receive help from trained tutors during the school day.

What began as a small effort to connect students who needed help with students who were eager to teach quickly grew into a widely used resource at Prairie Ridge High School. The program helped students build confidence in difficult subjects while also giving tutors the opportunity to develop leadership, communication, and mentorship skills.

After seeing the positive results at Prairie Ridge, Alexandra was inspired to expand the idea beyond a single school. The Peer Tutoring Program was created to help schools across the country build similar student-led tutoring systems that encourage collaboration, leadership, and academic success.

Meet Peter:

Peter is the friendly face of the Peer Tutoring Program. His name comes from the initials PTP, which also form the glasses in the logo. The design is simple and playful, representing curiosity, learning, and the idea that education should feel approachable for everyone.

Peter was created one evening by Alexandra Syanova and her dad while they were brainstorming ideas for the program’s identity. They wanted a logo that would reflect students helping students while still feeling fun and memorable. After sketching different ideas, the smiling character with PTP glasses was born.

The glasses symbolize perspective and understanding—two things that are essential in tutoring. And the smile represents the supportive environment that the Peer Tutoring Program strives to create for every student.

Today, Peter represents the mission of the program: learning together, helping others succeed, and making education a little more approachable for everyone.

Our Mission:

The mission of The Peer Tutoring Program is to empower students to support one another academically through structured peer mentorship. By creating opportunities for students to teach, learn, and collaborate, the program aims to strengthen school communities and improve access to academic support.

Through peer tutoring, students are able to gain confidence in their abilities, develop leadership skills, and build meaningful academic relationships with their peers.

Impact at Prairie Ridge High School:

The original Peer Tutoring Program, launched by Alexandra at Prairie Ridge High School, quickly became a valuable resource for students seeking academic help. The Program connected students with trained peer tutors across multiple subjects and provided a welcoming space where students could ask questions and work through challenging material.

The success of the Program demonstrated how powerful peer collaboration can be in supporting student learning. Tutors gained real experience explaining complex concepts, while students receiving tutoring benefited from working with someone who understood the challenges they were facing.

Looking Ahead:

The long-term goal of The Peer Tutoring Program is to expand this model to schools across the nation. By sharing the structure, resources, and strategies that made the Prairie Ridge program successful, the initiative hopes to help other schools create sustainable peer tutoring systems.

With the help of dedicated student leaders, educators, and volunteers, The Peer Tutoring Program aims to continue growing and supporting students for years to come.
